Divine Blog Award

I logged in this morning, bleary eyed and dressed to un-impress in Big R's P.J's to read my daily blog updates and check out what all those fashionistas out there are wearing/coveting/inspired by/you get the idea....and then...BLANK. Power cut. Bloody hell! I hadn't boiled the jug or popped my toast in yet and had to sit there, no coffee, no toast, no Big R (he had gone to work already), no internet, no sun, NO FUN!!! Not the best way to start the day and I figured it was probably going to go all up the wah-zoo from there. I picked up my book and indulged in a glass of cold milk and jam sandwich-not that I could concentrate 'cos I was constantly checking to see if our place was powered up yet. But finally I heard that familiar whizzing and leapt to the laptop...YAY....my world was back on. And there they were, comments on my last blog. Second YAY of the morning-I love gettin' love. Then, the last comment. I find out that I had been nominated for the Divine Blog Award. Third YAY and it isn't even lunch yet!! Turn my frown, upside down, laugh like a clown, going to town *singing*. Being kinda new to this blogging stuff I checked out what this all means, discovered new cool bloggers and more about them.
Big, Big, Big Thank You! to Vanessa at cupcake trash for nominating my blog, it really does mean so much to me (cue music and sideline guy waving me off stage).

Now I have to reveal my Top 5 Guilty Pleasures, nominate 5 other blogs for the award and let them know via comments....hmmm...narrowing down to only 5 G.P's and 5 blogs...

5 GUILTY PLEASURES

1. Intending to make Russian Fudge but always eating the whole can of sweetened condensed milk instead.

2. Shopping at Skylark Boutique in the city.

3. Watching the old TV series, Bewitched because I love Endora's wardrobe and kinda wish she was my nana.

4. Big Eyed Girl art and dolls. Maio art, Blythe dolls and vintage Bradley musical dolls...mmm...

5. Spending my last $30 bucka on Lula Magazine and a choccie fish when I know it was my power bill money.

And in no order, I would like to nominate these lovely bloggers....

5 DIVINE BLOGS

1. FrouFrouu...my inspiration to bite the bullet and start a blog.
2. Macy at The Strychnine Tree...always something quirky goin' on and some kickin' DIY's.
3. Rebecca at The Clothes Horse...lovely photos and her dancin shoes post? Insane.
4. Marcella at Fashion Distraction....dare I say, NZ's Rumi?
5. Krystal at what is reality anyway?...another badass blogger-BBE alert (badass blogger envy)

So hopefully we'll get to learn what makes these bloggers tick when no-one else is watching...jump onto their blogs and see.

i'm with the band...

In living colour to see my 80s brocade skinnys in all their glory....

I'm surprised Big R let me within 5 metres of his other girlfriend-let alone hold her/it/whatevs.
I think I look like a natural holding the bass....wonder if he'll give me lessons? Then I could be the back up bassist for his band????

Python booties and my wound from BEP concert....

Lace detail on the crop blouse.....

I've been trashing these thrifted 80's brocade skinnys, so thought I'd wear them for today's adventures and post. They are high-waisted something chronic and when I first wore them Big R was all, "Those are jeans my Mum would wear. In fact, I'm pretty sure she's got some in her closet." *sarcasm* So I replied, "Well, tell her I'll have 'em!"
I don't care, I love them. They're all faded and soft and pretty patterned and light and ahhhhh.....thankfully, because it makes up for their lack of back pockets (wide load material!).
Even though it's sunny today every so often the sun pops behind clouds, the wind is blustery and rain showers happen when you least expect it. Therefore, I figured it was a prime leather jacket day. I'd be prepared and not seem like too much of a freak. I'll do another post dedicated to the jacket but right now I'm off to read my newly acquired book as promised to another blogger: Jess at Wild Tortoise.....

so I creep, ye-ah, just keep it on the down low

Alert One: Heavy Written Word Post
Alert Two: Creepy Photos

Todays photos started off normal...then, a creepy sort of vibe set in...so we rolled with it.
I thought it was a little reflective of the blog world-being photographed, being discovered by accident, being snooped on...a kind of invited invasion. Plus, I was influenced by quite a few mag editorials I've seen lately. But I promise I'll try and do some stock-standard posts to prove I'm not a total wierdo.

See what I mean? Creepy! That last image gives me that feeling like, when you hear the urban legend about the babysitter talking to the intruder.....who's inside the house AARRGGHH!!
On a lighter note, Big R doesn't like my jacket. Actually, I can safely say that Big R HATES my jacket. Every time I whip this puppy out (which is a lot), his eyes roll, his head shakes out a small 'no' and I'm pretty sure he's trying to 'Jedi Mind Trick' me into picking something else to wear. He reckons I look like a REAL westie or a stoner (although by definition, they are probably one and the same) whereas I think I look like a hippie druid tripping on acid! Much more exciting!! Anyway, don't care, I like it...well, I did once I got the rank smoker smell out of it. I procured (fancy) the jacket from Trade Me and after they stated 'non-smoking, pet-free household', I had to decontaminate it anyway because they were telling major porkies. I wag my finger at you dirty-smoking trader!!

Didn't go anywhere exciting today, just P'N'S to get ingredients for baking and a packet of white Tim Tams-which I had obsessed over ALL morning after a mention in a previous post and therefore had to have. Then stopped in at local newsagent with fingers crossed there'd be new issues of my fave mags for the weekend....nope. I'll have to settle for ANTM tonight instead, not so bad really.....
jacket: trade me
top: mens red stamp singlet, the warehouse
leggings: valleygirl (2yrs old)

get on down with your bad self

Apologies in advance for pretty dismal shots, shocking lighting, shocking poser...but hopefully you judge/like the outfit on it's own merits. 'Ignore the silly chick inside the clothes!!'

Got some bad news today-small scale really, in the grand scheme of things but gutted all the same. All my Black Eyed Peas photos?.......gone....like GONE gone, can't geddem back gone. Why do people insist on playing with your camera, clicking through, "ooh, that's a cool one!", "hah, look at that!", "what's she doing? Which is the zoom?" Click, click...silence...."Um...I think something's wrong with your camera, it's gone all blank?" Excuse me? What? Gimme that! (YOU know who you are..ggrrrr!). The 'Delete all?' prompt should be removed from ALL cameras, I say. So, I guess now I have a good excuse for Big R to let me go again. Still, I was kinda enjoying the outfit I wore that night and decided to 're-shoot'-blog faux pas? Or totally legit? It doesn't show that same 'vibe' but at least all the shots of me gettin' on down with my bad self are gone :)

I'll be honest with you though, I was listening to BEP and was snapped (trying to) boogie...not that I'm game to share those right now.

jacket: thrifted
top/dress: mink pink
leggings: little high street
boots: docs
neck-piece: DIY
cuff: k road somewhere

tangerine

I've been waiting for the weather around here to make up it's mind ..rain..sunburst..cloud..wind. (If they combine all their powers does Captain Planet arrive?). I can't get my washing done-mundane but true. I can't hang in the park sipping a White Chocolate Mocha-no coffee shop nearby and the local park looks like I'd catch something from it-just true. I needed some way to brighten my day and chose this confused ensemble when I went to the "place-you-go-when-they-can't/won't-fit-your-parcel-in-your-letter-box". What's a few stares? I thought it worked, what do you think? My belt's a D.I.Y job and a nod to Stolen Girlfriends styling at ANZFW. Took all of 5 mins and $4 bucka-so happy with that result. Yayness, my tangerine blazer got a day out and I got my chilly little hands on my new/old back pack...I'm sure you'll get to see it real soon...

shorts: D.I.Y Jeanswest
tights: glassons (4yrs ago!)
