What I've Done: Made YOU A New Years Message Viddy

Told you I would. And I did. I keep my promises, even if it means I tanty when things don't go right. And they didn't. And I did.

But I persevered and came up with the goods. Excuse the rambling and the bad editing. I need practise.

What I've Worn and What I've Said: A Shorts Suit and A Stupid Idea

Stop. Hassling. Me. About. The. Missing. Christmas. Wish. Viddy!

It has evolved. It is going to happen. All will be revealed.

Until then, New Years is about to unfold before our very eyes. And New Years is a time when resolutions are made. Resolutions that fade into the abyss where faded, unrealised resolutions all get together and haunt us for the rest of our lives. Some turn into regrets, some are destined to be repeatedly bellowed for all and sundry, drunkenly every New Years Eve and some really are pursued with some commitment...until we slowly stop committing to it and committing to something else; usually it's antithesis.

New Years brings about a time to reflect on the year that was and the year that will be. For someone of my leanings [a little tutti frutti, goody, goody gum droppy and chopped nutty] that brings about stupid ideas: brain farts. And I had one. A doozy.

An outfit post.

A.

Day.

Next level commitment for me and don't be surprised if it fails miserably. BUT. If it does ACTUALLY happen, for serious? Get ready to bask in my boastful glory. Starting New Years Day. January 1st 2012. I've done three in a row. I'm on a roll. And I probably just jinxed it.

2012. What I've Worn. An Outfit Post A Day. BRING IT!

Asos eyewear, Dotti shorts suit, Converse Lo's in Optical White, Commoners_Alike tee, Bedrock Bones bracelet, One of Spades bracelet, Comme Des Garcon wallet and Mulberry 'Bayswater' bag.

What I've Worn: The Boxing Day Episode

Boxing Day. The day after the main event and one that can masquerade as a number of things; a relaxer, a cleaner-upper-er, a hungover haze, a continuum on the eating buzz or [if you're a total nutter with a death wish, sharpened elbows and Westfield vouchers to spend] a taking-advantage-of-saleser-er. I'll never make it as a writer-er. Or a model-er-er.

Mitchell and Ness 'Chicago Bears' snap back, As Colour raglan tee, crappy old [but stretchy]  jeans, One of Spades 'Hot Tamali' bracelet and Jack Purcells.

What I've Worn and Where I've Been: Huffer Dress, Studded Boots and The In-Laws Deck for Christmas Day

You would think from the absence of a well wishing post, obligatory Christmassy image and previous grinching moments, that I am no fan of the festive season. This is simply not true. I really get into it...well, the giving gifts part and the eating part...okay, okay AND the [responsible] drinking part, it's just that I was enjoying the eve, the day and the after day so much, I couldn't be arsed blogging. I couldn't be arsed scheduling a post to keep you interested.  I am a bad person.

Christmas Day ruled. Let's crunch some numbers:

17x gifts given
17x super smiles received
2x gifts received
1x over-excited squeal and vigorous behuggle [bear hug + cuddle] given
1x appreciative text sent
6x Peroni consumed
4x Berry cider consumed

What I've Done: Celebrated Christmas With Festive Nails

Okay, so I worked on  a Christmas viddy for you all. And failed. Epically. So it has morphed into something else. Stay tuned.

I grinched a bit and did not wish any of you well but I was so busy having a fantastic Christmas Day with my family that I didn't tweet, take [many] photos, check my phone or go online all. day. Not going to lie, it was awesome to be free. Though now, I kind of regret it. But I am sure you have all had so much damn fun, you couldn't care less what is going on here at the blog anyway.

But in case you need to beat a bit of holiday boredom...feast your eyes on my festive nails.

What I've Worn, Where I've Been, Who I've Seen: Boys Clothes, Arcade, People.

I went to this shindig at Arcade last Thursday and finally met some people I have been amping to meet. Not in the stalker way. Much. I discovered something new, somewhere new to shop, that some people are just cool and that Richie is never not metal.

At this shindig:
1. I perused some gears; growing my list of 'Must Buys' exponentially.
1a. Richie perused some gears; starting his list of 'Must Buys'.
1b. Discovered Richie is not as excited about skateboards as I am.
1c. But is more excited than me about Herschel bags.
2. Decided I REALLY need green kicks. Suede-y green goodness.
3. I spied with my little eye, something beginning with "D".
3a. And his lady.
4. Shook hands, talked trash and internalized my fear of being a leper of uncoolness with Katherine Lowe of Katherine Is Awesome [dot com], Emma Gleason of Rag-Pony, Matt Purcell of @Purcelltweets and the lovely Katie-maree of Katie-maree Cole.
5. Properly re-met Hannah McArdle from Aych Blog.
5a. She is always impeccably, blog-worthily dressed.
6. Saw this dude.
7. Saw this chick.
8. Drank Peroni...and loved it so much, I bought 2x cases of it for Christmas Day.
9. Admitted to someone I am a Maori who cannot swim or eat any form of seafood. Apart from a Filet o Fish from Mickey D's.
10. I walked away with a handy dandy shiny new pair of optical white lo's and a pack of Support socks.
10a. Decided that if I could don a Fresh New Pair of socks every day for the rest of my life, I'd die happy and probably with nice smelling feet.
10b. Was unsure whether I may or may not be giving the Support socks to Richie. We may have to pick a fave and share the remaining pair. Gross. Maybe I'll go buy some more.

So, to crunch some numbers:
3x bloggers met.
1x model met.
1x designer met.
2x bloggers spied.
1x worker who looked suspiciously like this person. So much so, that it was and in fact it is, this person.
2x Peroni consumed.
1x glass of rose consumed.
Lots of Peroni in a fridge.
Lots of glasses of Rose on a table.
Lots of empty vessels on a table.
2x Tops I really want....for Richie AND for me. Twinsies.
1x Herschel wallet I really need.
1x Deal taken advantage of.
9x Instax used to document my time at Arcade.
8x Instax used to document my time AFTER Arcade.
1x I Love Ugly shorts that Richie wants and have to somehow acquire before Sunday. S**t.

What I've Worn: Sherie Muijs T and Karen Walker Dress

This week was supposed to be some official summery weather type thing that would allow us to gloriously loll about in summery attire. Not so. Well played Mother Nature, well played - you got me. There has been some intense wind [forget the fart and bean jokes people, we're all grown ups around here] and enough light rain to create that halo of hair fuzz that is more frazzled fraggle than mussed model. You know the hair I mean.

Last week was much more glorious, enabling some lolling about action in summery attire and strolling about Auckland in sunglasses.
To prevent glare from the sun.
And not trying to be cool.
Or hip.
I enjoyed the lolling and strolling in this shirred K-Dub dress under a Sherie Muij tee and snapback head topper from Dope CoutureWonder if they'd consider making one that says, 'The Dopeness'?

wearing: dope couture snapback from needles and threads, sherie muijs boyfriend stripe tee, karen walker shirred bodice dress, douglas healthform roman sandals.

What I've Worn: TwentySeven Names Dress With A Red Bra

I finally dared to enter into my local mall during what is often described as the 'Silly Season" when a more apt title would be "Lot's Of Mad, Angry, Desperate, Clamouring, Pushing, Shoving, Rude, Oblivious People Letting Their Children Run Riot And Clogging Up The Car Park At 8.55am So They Can Waste All Their Money Season" if you ask me.

It had to be done. I have Post-Baby Boobies [this is not a topic up for discussion on this blog. Let's just leave it at that] and I needed underwear. Bendon had a 50% off thingy-ma-jig and it was located inside the mall.

Quite the conundrum.

I went in. I beelined for Bendon. I got measured. I got my favoured pieces. A mere 23 minutes later I emerged victorious; not to be confused with Victoria's. Happy me. Happy boobies. Happy bank balance. Within that 23 minutes the mall had transformed into a heaving beast. An 11 minute sojourn through Farmers lingerie department, also in sale mode, garnered some good basics to wear under sheer summer garments.

Then I was *outta there!

wearing: twentysevens names 'wooden ships' dress from precious peg, captain badge from wocolate, healthform roman sandals from douglas sandals, hot tamali bracelets from one of spades and red bra from bendon.

What I've Worn: Check Pants and Velvet Blazers

It was raining outside and it was muggy. Experience told me that although the morning looked bleak, there was a 99% Murphy's Law Probability that it would turn into a scorcher. The flip flopper nature of this tran-seasonal weather only intensified my flip flopper indecisive nature when getting dressed.

I wore my thrifted velvet blazer anyway. Experience told me that had I not worn it, I would've let that mere fact ruin my day.

wearing: thrifted blazer, asos white mens shirt, kate sylvester crazy pants, kathryn wilson brogue boots, lynx anti-perspirant.

What We Want 2011: Parcels For People 3

There's a term being bandied about; 'arm party' and to say I am not an avid fan is a gross understatement. The insinuation that there is an exclusive event happening on your arm belittles the intelligence of others who can quite clearly see there is nothing actually going on at the wrist of your upper limb and quite frankly, you must be barking mad to state that this is the case.
You special wee thing, keep believing there are fairies at the bottom of your garden.

WWW 2011: Parcels For People from ONE OF SPADES.

If you have someone in your realm requiring a Gifty and who likes to indulge in a bit of limb adornment or to be more specific, wear cool things on their wrist, then you should look no further than NZ label, One Of Spades. I happened upon the Hot Tamali Bracelets, handmade by jewellery designer Nat Peri, via a random pop up in my Facebook newsfeed. I'm not going to lie, it was the Hot Tamali moniker that hooked me in for a wee squizz and I'm glad I did. These are right up my aesthetic alley. Although I am not top of the list to wear her designs, that honour goes to Caleb Followill, Nat was kind enough to send me a few. They have not left my wrist in either a carefully planned or haphazard combo and Richie's been lucky enough to wear them as well. If I deem him worthy that day. Available through the One Of Spades website or here

Cotton Friendship Bracelet $29 each

Fluoro Cord $29

What We Want 2011: Parcels For People 2

Sometimes you find a website that literally covers every person you need to buy a Gifty for come Gifty Giving Occasion [remember I am non-reason or season specific] and the products on offer suit your particular gifting style. Think about it: we all have a schtick when it comes to Gifty Giving. There's a Gifting DNA strand, I swear.

I think a Gifty should not only be The Right Parcel for your Person but also reflect you and your relationship with them too.

WWW 2011: Parcels For People from WOCOLATE.

Righto, so I whinged [what's new] about New Zealands lack of online presence when it came to finding presents and a little tweet-love led me to Wocolate. I think the co-founders of Wocolate, Joshua and Sarah, have been sneaking into my house, reading my scribbled lists and invented a brain sucker machine to extract all the things I have ever wanted to find as Gifties for my people or for me...*cough cough*...a lot for me. Why the conspiracy theory? Because I click on their website and there are all these things that I've been looking for. There. HERE. In NZ. Available now. Get. In. The. Game. People.

Captain Shield Pin Badge $19
Cambridge Satchel Red 11" $190

Dove Tape Dispenser $14.95
Herschel Hank Leather Wallet Tan $109

Delectable Duo Art Print $67
Slim Essential Pocket Wallet Armadillo Leather $69
1. Captain Shield Pin Badge.
I never had any sort of badge thingy at school of the stitch on or pin variety. Probably due to a lack of participation in any extra curricular activities that did not involve wagging and the local Mickey D's. This is my chance. Or the chance of someone you know who is in the same predicament.  Perhaps there is someone calling the shots in your realm who needs a tongue-in-cheek approach to tell them to back off the Mum vibe. This it it.

2. Cambridge Satchel.
Who out there does NOT want one of these? If that is you, you are odd. Good for you. Stick to your guns. If you, like me, wish you had a friend like katherineisawesome.com  who bought her good friend issaclikes.com one of these babies in the navy, then here you go. For your gifting pleasure, a great range of colours is available from the classics through to 'In The Now' fluoro and sizes 11" through to 15". There's a few batchels there as well. I'm calling red as the new navy that was the new black. Festive and on the up.

3. Dove Tape Dispenser.
Dude. It's a dove. Christmas. Peace. Could it get more glaringly obvious yet oh so subtle? And it's woody. Who is not hoping to get something woody?

4. Herschel Leather Wallet.
Firstly, two words. Herschel. Leather. Another two. Available. Now. Don't be a slow coach and disappoint that cool male in your realm with a bitter sweet tale of how you found it online only to dither about so damn long that you missed out. He won't forgive you for a while and will glare at you each time he takes out his nylon velcro little boys wallet when he could've been rocking a big boys bi-fold.

5. Delectable Duo Art Prints.
I wish more people would give art for Gifties. I like the idea of giving or receiving something that was in someone's brain and came out in the form of something that can be appreciated and used for decoration. '2 for' are my jam. This is also a '2 for' as there are two 30cm x 45cm hand pulled screen prints and they're from a limited edition run of 80. Signed and numbered by the artist Nate Duval.

6. Slim Essential Pocket Wallet in Armadillo Leather.
I am buying this. I was sold at the 'Armadillo Leather' description and yes, I am aware it's not actually armadillo. The idea of having the few cards and cash money that I need in a findable, slimline holder excites me. And it's Handmade in NZ. BOOF!

SPECIAL MENTION.
Indian Girl Tea For One $65

How awesome would it be to sip tea from this? That would be awesome. That is all.
